The blade has been hand forged from w2 high carbon tool steel and features a tsuchime forged finish as well as a differential heat treat resulting in a hamon line unique to this blade. It has a convex geometry that is thin behind the edge and a slight belly from heel to tip that lends itself great to rock chopping or push cutting techniques. The blade has a full distal taper from the makers mark to the tip and has a rounded, polished choil and spine for comfort. The blade has been taken to a high level of finish to help bring out the hamon and to promote even patina development during use.
The octagon handle is made from snakewood and is heirloom fit to a fire-blackened steel bolster that has been faceted and polished.
